POLISH AMBASSADOR PRESENTS SUPPLIES TO NODS Friday 11th May 2018
Twenty-one thousand US dollars worth of equipment and supplies were presented today (Friday) to the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) for support to Barbuda as the sister-island recovers from Hurricane Irma.
Ambassador Przemyslaw Hauser (pronounced Sher-mis-lof How-zer) of Poland handed over the items to Director of NODS Philmore Mullin at a brief ceremony at the port. Also present were Government Senator responsible for Barbuda Knacyntar Nedd and former Cuban Ambassador Bruce Goodwin, who was instrumental in getting the items to Antigua and Barbuda.
The items included food products, roofing materials, power generator, pressure washer, petrol saw, hand tools and accessories.
The Embassy of the Order of Malta along with the Polish government and Caritas Polska - one of the largest charitable organisations in Poland, collaborated on the initiative.
According to Ambassador Hauser, the supplies should be helpful now and for the future. He hopes this will be the first step towards support to Barbuda.
Director of NODS Philmore Mullin says the items are quite useful and will be shipped to Barbuda as soon as possible.
