CDEMA PRESENTS TELECOMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT TO NODS Friday 11th May 2018
May 9th 2018 - The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) is the recipient of a number of solar powered telecommunications equipment, thanks to the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).
The presentation includes a satellite phone, a Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) terminal, which can transmit broadband wireless voice and data communications almost anywhere and solar panels.
CDEMA’s Communication and Education Specialist Clive Murray handed over the items to Director of NODS Philmore Mullin.
According to Director of NODS Philmore Mullin, “these are specific telecommunications equipment which will bridge the gap and create even more redundancy in terms of us being able to communicate when the system goes down as was the case last year”.
“The presentation of these equipment should see that situation totally eliminated”, Mullin indicated.
The equipment were purchased by CDEMA with funds provided by the UK-based Department for Foreign International Development (DFID) as a response to hurricanes Irma and Maria.
