UPDATE ON HURRICANE JOSE NOW A CATEGORY 4
Friday 8th September 2017

Antigua and Barbuda could begin seeing adverse conditions from Hurricane Jose after midnight Friday. The information from the Antigua and Barbuda Met Office is that Jose, now a Category 4 hurricane, is traveling on the same path like Irma and is coming much closer to Barbuda with peak winds.

Government is therefore speeding up evacuation of residents in Barbuda and to secure supplies.

Meteorologist, Orvin Paige says here in Antigua we could be looking at Irma type winds at 8:00 am tomorrow morning. He says Antigua could see flooding on a large scale.

Meanwhile, public shelters will open at 4:00 pm today. Residents are urged to monitor the local media for the latest advisories. Further updates will be given.
