Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Association made a conscious effect of proper preparation for championships like these and is satisfied with the preparation of the team going into this weekend event. An eight men squad was selected to train of which five riders was chosen. The season’s best 6 male riders showed very promising talent in train and were put to test t in the Association’s most recent race that would take place before the team set to travel.

The Technical team of the association had an easy process to arrive at the five riders as three of the eight riders abandon the training before the planned duration. Randy Bobby Simon, Walton Francis and Garfield Henry all withdrew from the program. Simon and Henry withdrew early in the program due to illness, the Association then made a special call to each of them to find out the reason of their absence. Henry was encouraged to continue training, although the 50 year was experiencing back problem. The island’s 13th Ranked cyclist abandons the training again with the last 2 assessment sessions to go. Walton Francis migrated to the USA.

This team consider as one of the strongest cycling team Antigua and Barbuda ever put together and is expecting to better our performance that what was done in last year’s event that was hosted here in Antigua.
