ABACA 35 MILE ROAD RACE, SUNDAY 13TH MARCH 9AM, PRG Wednesday 9th March 2011
The Antigua and Barbuda Cycling will host their 2nd race in 2011 on Sunday 13th March, ABACA 35 mile Road Race. The event will start at 9am in front of Police Recreation Grounds and follow the route unto Airport road, Old Parham rd, Cross Street, Friars Hill rd, Marble Hill rd, Cedar Grove, Hodges Bay, Shell beach area, back unto Airport rd, Factory road. The race will then head to the eastern side of the island on part of the route selected for the hosting of the OECS race here later this year by, heading up Factory road, Blackout road, Bethesda, Redhill, up to St. James’s Club and turn, following the same route back to the start/finish line at PRG.
The island’s best riders already confirmed participation included the last race winner, Godfrey Pollydore, Robert Marsh, Omari King, Marvin Spencer, Dale Richardson and National Champion – Cosmos Richardson. The B-class will see the rivalry of Xavier Henry and Alvin Merrick whist, Tamiko Butler who was 2nd in the last outing will also vying for top honors in the females and B-Class. The Beginners will ride a reduced route and is expected to have last race winners, Joel Phillip and Nigel Fabian along with a host of other beginners competing on Sunday.
