CSA TO ATTEND THE SAILING LEADERSHIP FORUM
Thursday 16th January 2014

Press Release: The Caribbean Sailing Association will be represented by its vice-president, Jaime Torres, at the Inaugural Sailing Leadership Forum presented by US Sailing in San Diego, California this coming February. The Sailing Forum will bring the world’s greatest sailing minds, opinion leaders and industry insiders together in the largest forum ever assembled for the sport to discuss common issues and shared goals facing our sport today. Presentations, seminars, and panel discussions will take place over the course of three days on topics ranging from event marketing, to educational programs, race management, rules, and handicapping.

The CSA stands to benefit on several fronts from Jaime’s attendance.  Foremost will be the networking opportunities for the CSA and the marketing and promotion of our regattas in the Caribbean.  While there he will also be evaluating the event itself for other members to consider future attendance.  Jaime’s presence will help insure that the CSA executive branch is current with the latest trends and issues in sailing.  Jaime will also hear about the current developments with the different handicapping systems being used around the world.  And finally, Jaime’s observations will help the CSA determine if our annual Regatta Organizers Conference should be expanded in the direction of a Forum with more expert speakers.

The CSA is grateful to Jaime for taking the time and effort to attend this event on our behalf.  He encourages other clubs and individuals in the Caribbean to also consider attending, as there is still time to make arrangements.  The event website is http://leadership2014.ussailing.org

If any CSA members would like Jaime to carry promotional material, please contact him at vpspanish@caribbean-sailing.com  He recommends to consider printing in Puerto Rico as a better option than mailing in the region.  And following the event we can look forward to a full report from Jaime that we will be sharing with all our CSA members.
