TRANSATLANTIC FORUM SUCCESS
Wednesday 22nd May 2013

50 sailing enthusiasts from all over Europe and Scandinavia, attended The Transatlantic Forum organised by Sailing Rallies Ltd, the organisers of the Christmas Caribbean Rally, which will leave Marina Rubicon, Lanzarote on 16th December 2013 bound for Jolly Harbour, Antigua.

The conference room at the Cruising Association’s London headquarters was crammed with budding ocean sailors, trade suppliers, publishers, writers and journalists, all eager to hear about the new rally and Atlantic sailing. Expert speakers were on hand to give specialist advice. Highlights included Jane Russell, author of “The Atlantic Crossing Guide” and Mike Broughton, a world-class weather routing expert and member of the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s Special Regulations Committee.

The two-day forum provided a wealth of advice from experienced professionals, covering a wide variety of topics from maintenance and choice of equipment to safety at sea and provisioning for an ocean passage.

The Christmas Caribbean Rally destination is Jolly Harbour Antigua and the resort’s owner; Charles Kenlock attended the forum to answer questions. The Caribbean was also represented by Sharon Bernstein from the Grenadian Tourist board, which is offering Christmas Caribbean Rally participants, seven free nights accommodation at the beautiful Port Louis Marina.

“We have had tremendous feedback from all of the participants.” Commented John Simpson, founder of Sailing Rallies. “ They liked the friendly informal atmosphere and were very happy with the diversity and quality of the guest speakers, who showed a very high level of competence and integrity. The Transatlantic Forum has proved to be a very friendly way of meeting people and discovering really useful information.
