BOXING TOURNAMENT WAS A SUCCESS Wednesday 2nd June 2010
The YMCA Volleyball Court came alive on Saturday May 29, 2010 with the first Boxing Tournament for the year. The event featured boxers from the National Gym led by Coach Maurice Hope and Uprising Gym led by Coach Anthony Severin respectively.
The line up was as follows:
1. Super Batam Weight Females - Ebony Morris WINNER (Uprising Gym) VS Roshanna Spencer ( Uprising Gym)
2. Feather Weight Thomas Charles WINNER Uprising Gym) vs Trevawn Samuel ( National Gym)
3. Light Weight Shaquille Lewis WINNER (Uprising Gym) vs Wynton Phillips ( Uprising Gym)
4. Light Welter Weight Eli Edwards WINNER ( Uprising Gym) vs Carlos Hughes ( National Gym)
5. Light Middle Weight Colin Hodge ( Uprising Gym) vs YASIMBA Aska WINNER (National Gym)
6. Super Middle Weight Karly Warner WINNER ( Uprising Gym) vs Shawn Muranimohan (Uprising Gym)
7. Light Heavy Weight Tuvia Lewis (Uprising Gym) vs Yakita Aska WINNER ( National Gym)
8. Heavy Weight Gavin Grant WINNER (Uprising Gym) vs Morvin Fiedtkou
The event also included presentations by Purple Dragon Don Jitsu Ryu, Krav Maga S.E,D
Minister of State: Sports, Local Government and Special Projects, Sen. Hon. Winston Williams opened the event and also presented prizes to the boxers.
The event saw over 600 persons in attendance and the level of excitement was very high
The Ministry of Sports Commends the Organizers and Sponsors for th No Retreat, No Surrender Boxing Event this past weekend
