EMPIRE RETAIN MINI-SOCCER FEST II LEAGUE TITLE Tuesday 22nd May 2012
Empire retained their title as Willikies, Swetes and Over Dey won for the first time in the second Mini-Soccer Fest on Sunday at the Buckley's School Field.
The Grays Farm side triumphed again in the Under 12 category while Willikies captured the Under 15 crown; Swetes triumped at the Under 17 level while Over Dey from All Saints won the Open category.
Empire defeated Young Warriors 1-0 and Young Germans 2-0 to take the U12 title.
Willkies won three of their four matches and drew the other in the Under 15 category as they defeated Empire 2-1; Young Warriors 5-1 but drew 1-1 with Fort Road.
Swetes overcame Old Road 1-0, Fort Road 2-0, Young Warriors 2-1 and Corinthians 1-0 to capture the U17 title.
In the Open division, Over Dey defeated West End 1-0 before beating Sandals 3-2 on penalties in the final which ended 0-0. Sandals had beaten Swetes 2-1 in their other game.
Organisers Young Warriors FC would like to thank to all the teams, players, parents, sponsors and spectators for supporting the Mini-Soccer Fest II.
The next event will take place on Saturday (May 26) featuring U13 cricket matches from 11am-2pm followed by football games from 2:30pm-7pm at Buckleys School Field.
