WINGS SETTLE FOR DRAW AS WARRIORS YOUTH CUP OPENS Monday 8th August 2011
Four goals by Ture` Massiah spurred Villa Lions to an emphatic 6-0 win over hosts Young Warriors in the Under 13 opener of the Youth Cup, as the Warriors Cup 2011 opened before an appreciative audience on Thursday at the Antigua Grammar School Field. During the Opening Ceremony, the teams were addressed by ABFA President, Everton “Batow” Gonsalves, who encouraged the players to take the competition seriously as part of their development in becoming better players. He complimented the Young Warriors Club for organising the tournament and called on the clubs to support the initiative. Organizer of the Tournament, Colin James, in welcoming the teams, especially newcomers, Stingray City Seaglans, coached by former national team player, Veron “Cactus” Spencer, urged the youngsters to play fair and competitive.
