FEMALE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT RESULTS
Monday 8th November 2010

POLICE SHACKLE EMPRESS

The 9th Annual CPTSA Female Football Tournament resumed on Saturday, November 6, with a triple-header at the YASCO Sports Complex.

In the first match of the evening, Police struggled to put the shackles on the girls from the Grays-Green Community, Empress. It was Katisha Peters who made the first arrest in the 15th minute of play after her straight drive was too heavy for Empress custodian, Bianca Henry to handle. Peters again made a second arrest, in dim light, 12 minutes into the second half. With 8 minutes left in the game, referees had to stop play for at least 10 minutes because the flood-lights did not come on.
The light situation rectified, Empress were able to keep the Law Ladies from making any further advances to settle for a 2 - 0 defeat. Each team had 6 shots at goal.

Police will now face Villa Lions at 5:45 P.M., while Empress will come up against the Defending Champions, 5P’s on Satur-day, November 13, at YASCO.

The 9th Annual CPTSA Female Football Tournament is sponsored by Hutchinson (Antigua) Ltd.

5P'S STOP SAP WHILE UNFORTUNATE RUN FOR EMPRESS

5P’s continue their bid for the 9th Annual CPTSA Female Football Championship defeating a disorganized SAP 2 –1, in the second game of a triple header at the YASCO Sports Complex on Saturday, November 6th.

SAP struck first in the 9th minute from Argel London when 5P’s goalkeeper, Anik Jarvis made an attempt out of the goal for a long ball but was narrowly beaten for it by London, who took ad-vantage of an empty goal.

However, 5P’s who played with only eight players, due to injury and sickness of five of their players, held their own exception-ally well. Just before the end of the half, the equalizer came from a long booter from the left flank by Britney Jacobs that found the back of the SAP net.

Melissa Fletcher struck the winning goal for 5P’s 10 minutes before the end of play. Result: 5P’s 2, SAP 1.

5P’s will now meet Empress at 4:30 P.M. on Saturday, November 13, while SAP will play Ottos Tigress at 7:00 P.M.

In the third match, Nicola Stewart found the net for Villa lions in the 16th minute of the first half from a free kick that opened the Ottos Tigress’ wall and clearly slipped through the hands of Shamond McMaster, goalkeeping for Tigress. Both teams played a competitively goalless second half to end, 1—Nil in fa-vor of Villa Lions.
