A Samory Farrel free kick found its target to give Wings a 1—0 Nil lead three minutes into the First Half against Willikies, as the Under 13 Division of the Warriors Cup continued on Saturday, September 4, at the Antigua Recreation Grounds.
But a somewhat complacent Wings laps in defense to give Willikies the breakthrough to level the score 1—1, midway in the First Half.
However, Wings found the spirit to fight back with Dave George making a crossing pass to Khennae Emmanuel in the box who made no mistake in placing it before the Willikies Goalkeeper could recuperate. Wings led 2—1 at the half.
Both teams regrouped at the interval and gained access to numerous chances but none did convert until ten minutes from the final whistle, a corner from Willikies into the Wings Goal box found a troubled hand re-sulting in a penalty and a chance for Willikies to level the score. But this was not to be, since great anticipation and superb diving effort, World Cup style, by Wings custodian, Melvin James was the highlight of the match.
Yet, as if to disqualify such a great goalkeeping effort, another Wings de-fense blunder, late in the game, gave Willikies the chance they needed to equalize for a 2—all draw.
Wings footballers will now be on a two-weeks break before the start of the CPTSA Sports Calendar. Registration of new and present players will be done at the CKHS and YMCA on Saturday 11 & 18, 9:00 A.M.—11:00A.M.
