RORC VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! Wednesday 9th February 2011
Once again the RORC Caribbean 600 yacht race is upon us and we are all working hard to make this year a bigger and better event as we build the reputation of this regatta.
As you are all aware an event like this cannot happen without the assistance of our ever willing and ever skillful volunteers. As last year we will be running two watch systems from 2:00am Wednesday 23rd February to 6:00pm Friday 25th February. One watch will be for our meet and greet - teams of two (we will pair you up if you like), 4 hour watches. Each competing yacht carries a transponder so we will have a very good idea when each yacht is arriving.
The second watch system is to actually 'man' the finish up at Fort Charlotte and be able to take a time as a yacht crosses the finish line. Again teams of two over the same time period, 4 hour watches.
We are also looking for a gate boat for the start and a press boat to take photographers for the start. If anyone has any ideas who might be able to volunteer such vessels, please contact us.
