SANDALS FOUNDATION SPREADS CHRISTMAS CHEER Monday 22nd December 2014
The Sandals Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts International, has concluded another successful Christmas Treat experience for more than 800 children across Antigua.
The holiday season started on December 10 at the Villa Primary School where scores of kindergarten, preschoolers and grade 1 students received Christmas presents and were treated to a mini Christmas party from Sandals Foundation’s Santa Clause and his elves.
The festivities continued at Cedar Grove Primary School, the pediatric ward of the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC) as well as the Good Shepherd Home where every child received gifts and enjoyed a Christmas party with refreshments. Children at the Child and Family Guidance Centre, Pares Primary School, Willikies Primary School, the Salvation Army and the Boys Training School were also treated.
This year, over 13,000 children throughout the Caribbean received a toy or gift thanks to longstanding partner Hasbro, Inc. In addition, to celebrate the Sandals Foundation’s fifth anniversary, the “High Five Holiday Toy Drive” campaign was launched. Through this initiative, when consumers donate $25 or more to the ‘High Five Holiday Toy Drive’ Hasbro, Inc. would donate another toy or game to a child in need.
Director of Programmes of the Sandals Foundation Heidi Clarke noted “It is heartwarming to know that our Christmas treats bring so much joy to so many children and we are very grateful for all the partners, donors and volunteers that make it possible. In five years we have been able to impact so many lives and show the world that our programmes and projects are worth investing in.”
The initiative looks to reinforce the Sandals Foundation’s commitment to giving back to the communities and allowing every child the opportunity of a normal and impactful life.
