ANTIGUA & BARBUDA TOURISM AUTHORITY

Antigua & Barbuda continues to be a favourite among travellers as it was the only Eastern Caribbean island ranked among the region’s top 10 destinations.  The fact that it made the list along with its larger Caribbean counterparts such as, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Jamaica, is quite a feat for the small, twin-island state.

 

Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Minister John H. Maginley, on hearing of the Award by Trip Advisior said, “Despite our size, Antigua and Barbuda continues to punch above our weight in delivering service excellence to our visitors. Congratulations are in order for the thousands of workers in our industry and all the tourism stakeholders who work tirelessly each day to deliver an exceptional experience to all visitors to our shores.”

 

In 2013, Antigua & Barbuda was internationally recognized on several occasions also being featured on CNN’s World’s 100 Top Beaches.  Antigua’s famous Ffryes Beach, located on the Southern coast of the island, ranked number 83 on CNN’s World’s Top beaches.
 

Additionally, the twin-island state received several World Travel Awards within the Caribbean & the Americas, having been awarded as ‘The Caribbean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination’ along with other stakeholders gaining awards in the following categories: Hermitage Bay - Caribbean’s Leading Boutique Hotel; Carib World Travel - Caribbean’s Leading Destination Management Company; Curtain Bluff Resort & Spa - Caribbean’s Leading Green Resort and Antigua & Barbuda’s Leading Spa Resort; The Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa - Caribbean’s Leading Honeymoon Resort and Antigua & Barbuda’s Leading Resort; Ayers Creek Residences at Nonsuch Bay Resort - Caribbean’s Leading Hotel Residences; Blue Waters Resort - Antigua & Barbuda’s Leading Hotel.

 

CEO, of the Tourism Authority Mr. Colin C. This latest endorsement which is as a direct result of the first- class experience that we offer our visitors, is something that all Antiguans and Barbudans can be proud of.”

 

In 2013, Antigua & Barbuda was also host to the finale episodes of ABC TV’s Primetime reality show, The Bachelorette and the UK’s popular music television programme, The X-Factor, which showcased the destination to millions of viewers worldwide.
