The Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) will be collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism to coordinate a familiarization (FAM) trip for WSEE One Caribbean Weather Channel. Celebrity weatherman Joseph “Joey” Kodba and his side-kick Bob the Parrot, along with his crew will be visiting the twin-island nation on July 27 to August 1 to observe the tourism product, which will include highlighting this year’s Carnival festivities.
Hon. John Maginley, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation & Culture, welcomed this development by the ABTA and commented, “Initiatives like this one provide invaluable exposure to the destination among a large audience that represents the ideal target demographic for our country.”
ABTA Marketing Manager, Charmaine Spencer, explained the significance of this familiarization trip, “The ABTA sees this as a prime opportunity to gain regional exposure for Antigua & Barbuda, and WSEE One Caribbean Weather Channel is an ideal medium as it broadcasts throughout many of the Caribbean islands including Puerto Rico, and will soon be expanding its markets to include New York City, Washington DC, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston.”
The crew will experience tours of our pristine beaches and various exciting attractions. They will also be filming segments of the Bank of Nova Scotia Opening Parade, Tee-Shirt Mas and Business Float Competition, LIME Children’s Carnival, Queen of Carnival Competition and The Source Teen Splash.
These segments will be aired from September – November on WSEE One Caribbean Weather Channel.
