ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA DESTINATION WEDDING GOES GREEN
Friday 11th May 2012

New York, NY (Thursday 10th, May, 2012) – Antigua and Barbuda, recently voted Most Romantic Caribbean Destination, is gearing up to host its sixth annual Destination Wedding Promotion in June. This year’s Romance Month has decided to “Go Green”.  With two recent awards in the weddings and honeymoon category from About.com and Brides Magazine, the U.S team will continue to promote the diversity of the product.

This year’s lucky couple, Jacqueline Adams and Ron Chrichlow are NYC residents, originally from the UK, who are very eco-conscious and are deliberate in minimizing their own footprint on the planet. As part of this year’s Eco-Chic theme, they intend to ensure that their wedding celebration also minimizes its effect on the environment. The couple who met at a scooter club in NYC will tour the island by scooter, and visit Green Island, an off-shore wildlife sanctuary and visit some organic gardens throughout the destination. The couple also plans to plant their own tree as a symbol of their growing love and commitment to each other and to the environment.

The Nonsuch Bay Resort, one of Antigua’s newest properties is the venue for this year’s green-themed wedding.  Located in the Parish of St. Phillips, the Nonsuch Bay along with its many attractions and amenities is known for its sailing experiences and nearby Green Island as one of its main attractions. After exchanging their nuptials, the couple will be escorted by boat to Green Island for a photo-op that will highlight the destinations wildlife and natural reserve.

“Green or echo chic weddings are a growing trend as couples focus on sustainability and minimizing some of the waste often associated with traditional weddings, while  preserving the environment for future generations. By integrating this theme into our romance promotion we will only help strengthen our competitive position”, said Derede Samuel-Whitlock Director of Tourism U.S.A. “

“We are so excited about our up-coming wedding in Antigua and even more excited that we can bring awareness about the environment and how we can celebrate in Antigua and Barbuda, this little bit of paradise, without disrupting it.” says the gushing couple.

The Eco-Chic Destination Wedding is planned for June 16th, 2012 at the Nonsuch Bay Resort at 6:00p.m. The Antigua and Barbuda annual Destination Wedding is an all expense paid promotion provided by the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority in conjunction with participating Sponsors.
