In keeping with the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority’s core objectives for regional marketing, the Authority recently hosted new regional television show Viva Caribbean, over a five day period. Televised on Tempo and CaribVision television stations, the destination is poised to receive high definition coverage, entering the households of more than 10 million viewers across the Caribbean region and the United States.
The visiting production company had the opportunity to sample some of the island’s accommodations, restaurants and entertainment offerings in addition to the island’s historic and natural attractions.
As an added touch, an entire episode was dedicated to Barbuda, in an effort to promote the serenity and stunning beauty of that untouched gem.
The current Queen of Carnival 2011, Latisha Greene, served as Antigua & Barbuda’s Co-Host to the Viva Caribbean production. Ms. Greene expressed her “gratitude in being given the opportunity to serve as an ambassador to her twin island nation.” CEO of the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority, Colin James, stated that “productions such as Viva Caribbean provide the destination with cost effective visibility and promotion, especially across the Caribbean region.” He continued that “maintaining this type of TV coverage within the region will showcase what Antigua & Barbuda has to offer to regional travelers to help drive business particularly during the slower summer months.
This project follows on other recent ABTA facilitated productions such as Caribbean Passport, which regional show which is being aired throughout the region.”
Viva Caribbean’s Antigua & Barbuda episodes are scheduled to be aired within the second quarter of 2012.
