NEW APPOINTMENT SYSTEM AT THE IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT Thursday 8th September 2011
 The Department of Immigration Services will introduce new procedures for setting appointments, which will take effect from 15th September 2011.
The new Appointment System offers a convenient alternative to waiting in line for immigration services. This is deemed a major improvement from earlier systems which often entailed users of the immigration services having to endure long waits outside the Immigration Headquarters.
As of September 15th persons wishing to make appointments can do so via telephone or email.
- For citizenship interview appointments or queries please call 562 5584 or email citizenship@immigration.gov.ag. This appointment follows the initial interview with the Citizenship and Passport Office on Queen Elizabeth Highway.
- For all other appointments please call 562 7883 or email appointment@immigration.gov.ag
Appointments must be made at least two (2) weeks prior to the expiration of one’s existing status. Work Permit holders should seek to renew their work permit at least six (6) weeks prior to the expiration of their current work permit.
The Appointment system is aimed at reducing the long wait and ensuring that persons are equipped with the relevant information and documents needed to conduct their business with the department. The appointment system facilitates all persons visiting the department and includes an initial interview conducted to determine the requirement of each person and a scheduled date and time is then given.
Telephone appointments may be made during the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays and on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The office is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
