TOURISM MINISTER MEETS WITH CRUISE TOURISM ASSOCIATION & TOUR OPERATORS... Tuesday 9th August 2011
The Hon. John Maginley, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture met with the Antigua & Barbuda Cruise Tourism Association & Tour Operators on Thursday August 4, for a meeting at the Ministry of Tourism on Queen Elizabeth Highway.
The Meeting was to give an update on the current season and to discuss new incentives being offered to the cruise lines.
Minister Maginley welcomed the group to the Ministry where he outlined, among other things, a new incentive package being offered to the cruise lines to attract additional business in the upcoming seasons for Antigua & Barbuda. He also requested that a meeting of this magnitude be held monthly so as to keep the necessary stake holders abreast of the growing trends within the industry.
Mr. Nathan Dundas, President of the Antigua & Barbuda Cruise Tourism Association, expressed his appreciation over the outcome of the meeting. Stakeholders were able to discuss the current issues within the industry and give their view as to the way forward. He stated that the Association plans to have bi monthly ‘Targeted’ meetings with specific stakeholders, namely the Tour Operators, Taxi Dispatchers and Merchants, where they can discuss in detail specific issues affecting each sector of the economy.
