ANTIGUA & BARBUDA TO GAIN MORE TOURISM COVERAGE REGIONALLY Wednesday 1st June 2011
The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) hosted a film production crew from the popular Lifestyle and Travel programme, Caribbean Passport, during the country's 44th Annual Antigua Sailing Week. The group from JCD & Associates Ltd., a Television, Production & Marketing firm, spent several days in Antigua & Barbuda capturing the sights, sounds and tastes of the destination, which will be featured in a number of its upcoming shows.
With more than 15 years of experience in Marketing, host Judy Chong-Dennison expressed delight at the opportunity to feature the island. “We were pleased to not only capture the Sailing Week activities but also the essence of some of the beautiful sites of Antigua and Barbuda” said JCD Managing Director Judy Dennison. The group was accompanied by escorts from the ABTA as they captured traditional Antiguan landmarks and popular tourist attractions such as Shirley Heights, Nelson's Dockyard, The Martello Tower, Stingray City and the Heritage Quay Pier. A special feature was also made on sister island Barbuda, showcasing its natural beauty, miles of secluded beaches and unique pink sands. Minister of Tourism Hon. John Maginley, Chairman of the ABTA Ted Isaac and CEO of the ABTA Colin James were on hand during production, to share insight into the continued evolution of Antigua & Barbuda's tourism product. In addition to this, the crew managed to highlight the dynamism of Antigua's entertainment sector with footage of the Maxi Priest concert, and interviews with local icon "Gravy" amongst others.
JCD & Associates Ltd produces Caribbean Passport which is shown on 27 Television stations in 21 islands at primetime, as well as 'Caribbean Essence' the in-flight programme shown on board Caribbean Airlines. The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority was extremely pleased to form an alliance with this Media Company and plans to use this opportunity to further promote our beautiful island as the ideal destination for both regional and international travellers. Antigua & Barbuda's featured episodes on Caribbean Passport will air on ABS Television and other local channels in the coming weeks.
