MINISTER MEETS WITH CCECC DELEGATION Tuesday 12th April 2011

The Hon. John Maginley, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation & Culture, met today, 11th April, with the members of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and other officials for a short meeting at the Ministry of Tourism office on Queen Elizabeth Highway.
The team has been selected to construct the new terminal at the VC Bird International Airport. Work is scheduled to begin as early as September. Present at the meeting were Ambassador David Shoul, Non – Resident Ambassador, Peoples Republic of China, Mr. Gatesworth James, Chairman, Antigua & Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA), Mr. Johann Hesse, Architectural Consultant (ABAA), Mr. Bernard Lewis, Engineer Consultant (ABAA), Mr. Liu Zhimming, Chairman (CCECC) and other CCECC’s delegation members including Mr. Zhao Zhongning, Vice President (CCECC).

Minister Maginley said that he was indeed happy to receive the Beijing team as his government moves ahead with plans for the con-struction of the new airport terminal. He expressed sincere gratitude to the Peoples Republic of China for their unrelenting support to the people of Antigua & Barbuda. Mr. Liu Zhimming, Chairman (CCECC), presented the minster with a scroll on behalf of his company and the People’s Republic of China.
