ANTIGUA & BARBUDA TOURISM AUTHORITY

Some of the islands’ newest and most unique small hotels will be featured in part one of a 4 episodes enlightening series entitled Know your Product…Antigua’s Unique Properties.
The program produced by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Belmont Studios and ABS Television was designed to give locals and visitors more insight into the numerous vacation options that exist in Antigua and Barbuda. Production of part 2 is schedule to commence in November 2010.

Most of the properties featured were built under the Cricket World Cup Project Incentives Act of 2005, which was enacted to provide incentives to encourage the development of hotel accommodation and other tourism related products to meet the demands of the Cricket World Cup 2007.

The initiative has been deemed successful with the construction of some 42 new properties. An additional 9 properties were upgraded and refurbished under the aforementioned incentives scheme.

“We are indeed pleased that many locals took advantage of the opportunity to invest in the national economy and as such the Ministry of Tourism is committed to ensuring their viability,” stated Mrs. Dulcie Looby Greene, Unique Properties Coordinator.

She continued, “The task now at hand is to empower these new property owners with the skills necessary to maintain a thriving business, specifically in the areas of business management, human resource development, and most importantly marketing; thus the reason why we saw it fit to produce this promotional video program.”

Twenty properties will be featured in the 4 episodes of the series, with each episode highlighting five properties.

The program will commence on Cable Television (CTV) with Episode #1 of “Know your Product…Antigua’s Unique Properties” on Tuesday September, 28th at 9:00 PM with a replay on Saturday 2nd October at 2 PM. They will then continue with Episode #2 the following week using the same days and times until all four episodes have been aired.

The Antigua Broadcasting Service Television (ABS TV) will commence airing Episode 1 on Sunday 3rd October 2010, at 8:30 PM, with a new episode airing each Sunday consecutively thereafter until all four episodes have been aired. Showings will also be done via Karib Cable’s Tourism Channel at a date and time to be announced.

Episode 1 of “Know your Product…Antigua’s Unique Properties” will feature Blue Heaven Villas, The Valley Creek Hotel, Sunrise View Antigua, Four Pillas Villas, and the Island Fantasy Apartments.
