A & B WIN LEADING CATEGORIES IN CARIBBEAN TRAVEL AWARDS
Wednesday 19th December 2018

St. John’s, Antigua - (December 18, 2018) The dedication of Antigua and Barbuda tourism stakeholders towards ensuring extraordinary experiences are received by visitors at every touchpoint is being recognized by the prestigious Caribbean publication, Caribbean Journal, in their annual ‘Caribbean Travel Awards.’ Antigua and Barbuda has been named, “Luxury Destination of the Year,’ and the V.C. Bird International Airport has been named, “Caribbean Airport of the Year.” In addition, one of the leading hoteliers on-island, Rob Barrett of Elite Island Resorts, has been named, “Caribbean Hotelier of the Year.”

Antigua was named as “Luxury Destination of the Year,” by the Awards, which have recognised the expertly cultivated broad collection of luxury hotels in the destination, that include Curtain Bluff, Carlisle Bay, South Point, the recently upgraded Jumby Bay, and the newest addition: Hodges Bay.  They also cite highly-anticipated additions in the pipeline including Waldorf Astoria and Rosewood. V.C. Bird International Airport was recognized for providing outstanding, truly international standard airport experiences. The airport has been praised for its modern, beautifully designed and seamless experiences and for providing the best-in-class airport experience you can find in the region.

Antigua and Barbuda Minister of Tourism and Investment The Honourable Charles ‘Max’ Fernandez said, “We are honoured to be named by the 2018 Caribbean Travel Awards as the Luxury Destination of the year and Caribbean Airport of the year.

Antigua and Barbuda offer some of the Caribbean’s most amazing experiences to our visitors and we are confident that our tourism product on offer this winter is the best ever.”

CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Colin C. James, shared his thoughts on the wins, “The competition is incredibly fierce, and so we are grateful and thankful to be named in multiple categories. We look forward to continuing our gains in 2019 with new airlift, hotel openings and the opening of a 5th pier berth to accommodate larger cruise ships.”

The Caribbean Journal was founded in 2011 as the first pan-Caribbean newspaper, with cutting edge analysis, unmatched original content, on-location video, the publication has changed the way the Caribbean gets its news, and is today, one of the leading publications in the Caribbean market.
