OPENING DATE ANNOUNCED FOR THE HFGF 2012 COMPETITION Tuesday 12th June 2012
The Community Development Division’s Homes Families & Garden Festival (HFGF), will be opening the 2012 competition on June 21, under the theme: “Think Beautification for the Nation’s Health and Wealth.”
This year, the HFGF opening will be held at the residence of Francella Henry at Ffryes Estate. Mrs. Henry’s garden won the competition in 2011.
Since the re-introduction of the HFGF in 2008, the HFGF has been a tremendous success and has morphed into a Kaleidoscope of activities, which will eventually become even bigger and better. The revival of this event has mobilized residents in different communities in the twin island state to beautify their surrounding, improve and enhance residential, commercial businesses and other and other public areas.
There are three categories Garden Competition, Flower, Fruit and Vegetable and Landscaping. To this end residents are encouraged to upgrade fences, clean-up and beautify flower & vegetable gardens, hedges, landscapes, aquariums and ponds, plant ornamental trees, clean-up and beautify parks, churches, schools and derelict areas of the community.
