AHTA DONATES MULTI-MEDIA EQUIPMENT TO THE MUSEUM OF ANTIGUA & BARBUDA Thursday 6th August 2015
The Antigua Hotels and Tourist Association (AHTA) continues its longstanding relationship with the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda with a donation of a multimedia projector and laptop last week.
The timely donation will be used for the museum’s upcoming Digital Heritage Education series that will showcase the history of Antigua and Barbuda and is geared primarily towards students at our nation’s schools.
The Antigua Hotel and Tourist Association has been a long standing patron of the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda with their financial support of various projects and necessary donations, notably assisting with building repairs through the installation of windows after considerable damage in 2008.
The Museum of Antigua and Barbuda is presently featuring an open-air museum in the courtyard that features a recently restored sugar locomotive, Victorian cast iron mailboxes, and sugar coppers that were used to boil sugar during the colonial era.
Michelle Henry, Curator of the museum, expressed her gratitude to the Antigua Hotels and Tourist Association for their support of the Digital Heritage Education series as well as other ongoing projects.
Neil Forrester, the AHTA’s General Manager stated that the donation was made possible through the AHTA’s Tourism Development Fund where guests at participating hotels donate one US dollar per day towards tourism and community related projects. With these funds we strive to give back to our young people through education and scholarships and we are pleased to be supporting the Museum in its educational programme.
