CHEF'S WORLD MAKES DONATION TO NATIONAL CULINARY TEAM

Chef's World, on Friday, donated a quantity of chefs jackets, aprons and hats to outfit the National Culinary Team that is set to participate in the Taste of the Caribbean Culinary Competition at the Rio Mar Resort in Puerto Rico, from September 9-12.

Antigua & Barbuda’s Team Manager Andrew “Stan” Baxter received the donations on behalf of the National Culinary Team.  “We have a very strong team going to the Taste of the Caribbean Competition this year. This is a very prestigious event, which is going to see eleven nations vying for the different Caribbean titles. These uniforms are going to make the team and the country proud and look presentable and smart,” said Baxter, Executive Chef at Galley Bay.

Julian Waterer, proprietor of Chef's World, expressed his continued support to the National Culinary art form through the supplying of uniforms and other equipment to hotels and restaurants, locally.
The chef of 35 –years, said that approximately twelve years ago he participated himself as a chef, in the Taste of the Caribbean Competition. Team Antigua & Barbuda at that time returned with a bronze medal.

This competition, which is organized by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourist Association (CHTA) is also geared towards the promotion of camaraderie and educational opportunities among food and beverage professionals.

“It is a great for the region and it is great for Antigua & Barbuda. We are trying to send a team every year and it is a very important part of getting exposure and recognition for the chefs.”
The donation entails two sets of jacket for working and presentation of awards, aprons and hats. Logos of Antigua and Barbuda, the AHTA and the  national team’s sponsors have also be embroidered onto the jackets.
