ASW LAUNCHES LIAT SCHOOLS ART COMPETITION Wednesday 23rd March 2016
Antigua Sailing Week is delighted to launch the "2016 LIAT Schools Art Competition". In October, LIAT, the Caribbean Airline will celebrate 60 years of service, connecting our region and connecting the people of the Caribbean. It seems fitting therefore that the theme for the competition this year concentrates on how our region connects with the world.
David Evans, LIAT’s CEO says: ‘The theme this year is, LIAT, The Caribbean Airline celebrates 60 years of service, connecting our region and connecting the people of the Caribbean. However we are focusing on more than just LIAT and how we assist in connecting people from around our region; we want the children to focus on our oceans also, as the longevity of the human race will be determined by the health of our oceans.’
Participants aged from 5-18 years will compete in three age groups as well as for a people’s choice award voted for on the LIAT School's Art Competition Facebook page (www.facebook.com/aswschoolsart). LIAT, the Caribbean Airline is encouraging children to think creatively about what they and the rest of the population do in, on and with our water, and about conserving and protecting our water.
Deadline for entries is Friday April 15th and entries can be left at the Antigua Hotels and Tourist Association office on Newgate Street, St. John’s or at the Antigua Sailing Week office upstairs at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina, in English Harbour.
Prizes include flights from LIAT, the Caribbean Airline, stationery from Harper’s Office Depot, official Antigua Sailing Week hats from merchandise sponsor Gill North America, gifts from Colombian Emeralds and vouchers from Big Banana.
Competition details can be found on www.sailingweek.com or on www.facebook.com/aswschoolsart.
