YACHTING WORLD EDITOR COMMENTS ON ANTIGUA SAILING WEEK
Friday 14th March 2014

Of Antigua Sailing Week, outgoing editor David Glenn had the following to say:

‘Aiming for Antigua?

As one sailing season springs to life here in the UK another in the same hemisphere draws to a close, marked by the running of a number of popular regattas including Antigua Sailing Week, which we have supported as a media partner for a number of years. A re-vamp of the regatta’s structure based largely on advice from the sailors themselves, excellent new management and the propect of sublime sailing and partying conditions have helped give this 47-year-old event a new lease of life in recent years. As a magazine, I hope we’ve helped in this respect. I am particularly proud that the Yachting World Round Antigua Race which takes place on Saturday 26 April which leads into the regatta proper has attracted a decent fleet over the years and this year looks like being no exception. Just to remind you the regatta runs for a week starting on 26 April so there’s still time to enter and get out there for some serious Caribbean sun and quality competition.’

A big thank you to Yachting World for its continued support of Antigua Sailing Week. If you haven’t yet entered the Yachting World Round Antigua Race, it’s not too late. The race is open to all classes of boats including classics, and although many boats that enter go on to race Antigua Sailing Week in its entirety, the Race is scored separately and all boats are welcome. Register at http://www.regattaguru.com/asw/minisite?series_id=100012#Entries and join boats such as ICAP Leopard and Monster Project in this exciting race around Antigua.  A new course record could be up for grabs this year!

On a separate note we would like to thank David Glenn for his enormous support of Antigua Sailing Week over the past few years.  As editor for four years and part of the Yachting World family for 35 years he has been part of sailing history on many occasions.  David we hope retirement brings even more opportunities to experience life at the helm.
