ANTIGUA SAILING WEEK TEAM ARRIVE IN COWES UK Thursday 9th August 2012
PRESS RELEASE: Cowes, United Kingdom – Friday 10thAugust 2012
In an editorial during Antigua Sailing Week, the regatta was hailed as ‘the Cowes of the Caribbean’ and it therefore seems only fitting that the team would visit Cowes during the 2012 Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week to meet up with partners, sponsors and crews as well as taking the time to meet some of the key players who organise one of the biggest regattas worldwide and assess what can be utilised to further improve the management of Antigua Sailing Week in the future.
In partnership with Antigua Sailing Week’s sponsor, Sunsail, the Antigua Sailing Week team and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (‘ABTA’) are providing a one day sponsorship at the Sunsail Hospitality area upstairs at the Cowes Yacht Haven. Crews racing on Sunsail boats will enjoy post race hospitality courtesy of the ABTA. For three lucky crews there will also be the opportunity to walk away with a bottle of English Harbour Rum for each crew member racing on Sunday 12thAugust as well as one coveted free entry to Antigua Sailing Week 2013.
Landside manager of Antigua Sailing Week Alison Sly-Adams says, "This is a fantastic and unique opportunity to meet crews who race with Sunsail in the United Kingdom and tell them all about the fantastic race schedule we have in Antigua each year and ensure they know that if they want to race in a Caribbean Regatta, that Antigua Sailing Week should be their first choice'.
For those poeple not racing with Sunsail, there is another opportunity to get a taste of Antigua in the UK as tonight from 6.30pm English Harbour Rum arrives at the King and Queen Pub in Hamble quite literally. The King and Queen has the best range of Caribbean rums in the area with only one rum missing to date-English Harbour Rum. In conjunction with landlady Janet Bradley, the Antigua Sailing Week team and ABTA will finally make good and will be able to offer English Harbour Rum from the optics for those Antigua rum lovers who want to taste a piece of Antigua in between visits to the island.
Louay Habib, more renowned for his international race reports, will be DJ for the night, ensuring a complete Caribbean night right here in the UK. Whether you have visited Antigua and Antigua Sailing Week and miss the taste of the amber nectar, or are a rum lover and want to see how English Harbour Rum measures up to your current favourite, come and join us on Friday evening. We look forward to welcoming you to a little bit of Antigua Sailing Week in the UK.
