ANTIGUA SAILING WEEK AND TRISKELL ASSOCIATION MEET IN DESHAIES Wednesday 25th January 2012
On Saturday, January 21, Kathy Lammers representing Antigua Sailing Week and Antigua Yacht Club met in Deshaies, Guadeloupe with representatives of the Triskell Association, the Minicipality of Deshaies, Marina Bas-du-Fort and the CSA representative for the French islands. A news article was published in the France Antilles newspaper on January 25, 2012. The English translation of the article is as follows:
'Deshaies
Preparation for the Guadeloupe to Antigua Regatta
The Triskell Association will organize the starting line for Deshaies - Antigua on April 27 at 9 am (record held by Mari Cha 4 in 2 h 18 min 42 s).
In preparation for the race from Deshaies to Antigua to be held on April 27, a meeting between the Antigua Yacht Club, represented by Kathy Lammers, and the Triskell Association represented by Jean Michel Marziou and Jessica Adrianssen, was held last Saturday in Deshaies. Fabien Edward represented the municipality and Ariane Graf represented Marina Bas-du-Fort. Alexandre Thevenet, representing the Caribbean Sailing Association, was also present.
It was decided to increase cooperation between the two yacht clubs and especially to promote the reception of French crews in the next Sailing Week. Bilingual communication should be established with the presence of translators for the crews. The problem of organising the ratings (CSA) was much discussed, and Guadeloupe should soon have an official measurer.
Close cooperation will be developed between the two clubs (Internet communication with Triskell before and during Sailing Week), the aim being to encourage the flow of boats to the events on both our islands.' Click here for all News and Specials for Antigua Sailing Week
