BAT SURVEY AND BAT CONSERVATION WORKSHOP
Tuesday 23rd June 2015

Have you ever given a second thought about bats?  Do you begin to understand the huge role that bats play in maintaining healthy ecosystems?

The Bat Conservation Project is seeking your participation in a training workshop to be followed by Bat Survey Work. Both the workshop and surveys are slated to take place this August, 2015.

The focus of the project is first, to facilitate the understanding of the importance of bats in our daily lives, then to build community support for bat conservation in Antigua and Barbuda.

The long-term objectives of the project are to:

  • Train a select group of local persons in bat surveys and assessment.
  • To build local capacity and support for bat conservation and management.
  • To increase awareness about the value of bats.
  • To develop long-term protection for bats.

Details about the workshop and surveys will be disseminated closer to the date, but for now, to whet your interest, the main workshop (theory focused) will occur during the day. Then in the night you put your practical skills to the test.

There will be a voluntary participation fee, and any donations collected will go towards the longevity of the Bat Conservation Project.

Interested persons can call us on (268) 462 - 6236, no later than Thursday 2nd, July  2015.

Please respond as soon as you can before or during the deadline date. We are still looking for more participants to help share and expand this exciting opportunity to protect one of Antigua's indigenous creatures.

See you at the workshop some time this August!
