A TURTLE CALL: WE NEED YOU! Tuesday 15th February 2022
This year the EAG looks forward to reinstituting its sea turtle monitoring efforts on mainland Antigua under the Antigua Marine Conservation Programme, or, AMCP.
The AMCP is an expansion and relaunch of the renowned Antigua Sea Turtle Project (ASTP) which spent a decade monitoring nesting beaches across the nation. Under the new programme, we aim to expand ambition by gaining a robust understanding of they local sea turtle population and how they can help them.
In their first call to assist in this effort, they are targeting interested participants who:
- Live or work near one of Antigua’s beaches AND/OR
- Frequent visiting beaches in the morning for a swim or jog, for example.
Primarily, their target audience is those who already regularly find themselves on the beach, both during the week and on weekends. This aspect is critical as it increases the likelihood of sustaining the monitoring effort long-term.
If you meet the above criteria and are interested in participating, please fill out the Google form sheet found here.
If you don’t meet the criteria—do not worry! They foresee another volunteer call in your future.
Contact the EAG either via email (eagantigua@gmail.com) or telephone (462-6236) if you have any questions/concerns.
