Small Craft Control Act No.14 of 2015

ABMA Board members were invited to a meeting this week held by the Antigua and Barbuda Department of Marine Services and Merchant Shipping (ADOMS). At this meeting ADOMS presented the ABMA with some details of the impending enactment of the Small Craft Control Act 2015.

This new legislation goes into effect on January 1, 2016 and will have broad impact as it applies to both companies and private individuals who operate motorised or non-motorised small craft sized 24 meters or less.  While the final act is not yet available, however please take the time to read the notes issued by ADOMS and the law in the subsequent link: http://abma.ag/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Intro-paper-sector.pdf.

A consultation meeting will be held by ADOMS in the near future to hear public concerns. We will apprise you of date and location as soon as we have that information.

Any questions until that time can be directed to news@abma.ag

ABMA Membership Fee Increase

As you know our membership year runs from January 1st to December 31st annually. We have not increased the membership for many years and as we are all aware the cost of doing business continues to increase. We also continue to experience issues in late payments of membership fees which means we spend a lot of time and energy on something which takes time away from being more proactive. The board has therefore agreed to a 10% increase in membership fees for the 2016 year, however a 10% discount will be given for any members who are willing to pay the fee by January 31st .

To take advantage of the early payment discount please contact ABMA accounts - Ari James  by email: info@abma.ag or call by tel: (268) 724-0442.
