BUPA MEDICAL INSURANCE WITH SPECIAL RATES FOR MEMBERS Thursday 1st December 2011
Antigua Yacht Club arranges a healthcare scheme for its members. This year, there is an extra benefit to your membership of the Antigua Yacht Club.
The need for fully international healthcare insurance is particularly important for the yachting community.
As it is, of course, for those who live in Antigua, where local services can be a bit limited.
In view of this, the yacht club has now agreed special terms for its members with BUPA International. This is very much with the yachtsman in mind, although a variety of policy options are available to suit most requirements.
In most cases, the saving for members will be more than the cost of their annual AYC subscription. While the scheme is sponsored by the AYC, participants become direct, private members of BUPA International. The plan is built on BUPA’s comprehensive ‘Lifeline’ and ‘World Health Options’ policies and members can choose the precise level of cover they want – from ‘gold plated’ to hospital treatment only. Cover is fully international, apart from the USA where cover for more than a holiday trip does mean a higher premium.
For the larger yachts with central administration, BUPA has a dedicated Maritime Plan for professional crew. This gives comprehensive medical cover, worldwide. The policy also gives you access to free 24 hr expert medical opinion and provides for evacuation to the closest centre of medical excellence - if that is necessary. Maritime Plan rates are very competitive, currently less than $900US pa (excluding USA) and $1800 (including USA) per crewmember. Call the Antigua Yacht Club for more information or get in touch direct with AYC member, David Cadogan, who has the details. See contact details below.
