AYC FALL SEMESTER SAILING SCHEDULE Tuesday 12th September 2017
At the AYC we have been busy laying the groundwork for the Fall Sailing Program and the upcoming regattas. AYC Instructors Torben and Cliff have continued to focus their energies on training and development. Our objective is always to maintain continuity and high standards for the benefit of our junior sailors.
We'd like to share the exciting news that Antigua Yacht Club was selected at the IODA Annual General Meeting on July 18 in Thailand to host the prestigious Optimist World Championship in 2019. The event presents great opportunity and incentive for our Opti sailors. It will be a major focus of our training going forward.
The AYC Fall Sailing Session begins September 8 and continues until October 29.
Click for the new training schedule for Optimist, Laser, and Zoom 8 sailors.
Please see Nesie, the AYC Secretary, to complete registration. Payment must be made in full by the first day of your session. The attached schedule shows the dates, times and fees for each category. This fall we anticipate that some of the sailors who regularly attended the spring sessions will be evaluated into a higher level. If you are unsure which category to register your sailor, please come and see Karl.
AYC has been fortunate to acquire two 29ers to provide a high performance double-handed option for youth sailors, especially those graduating from Optimist. A formal training schedule is being put together based on interest. Sailors who have already been part of our programs are eligible as the 29er requires minimally intermediate sailing skills. Please speak to Karl to learn more.
2017 Fall Regatta Schedule:
The SOL St. Maarten Optimist Championship scheduled for November 4 – 5 is an event open to all AYC Opti sailors who wish to attend. A meeting for those interested in knowing more will be scheduled to discuss the logistics of the event.
The Caribbean Dinghy Championship is being held November 24 – 26 in Trinidad & Tobago and is a multi-class regatta. AYC will pay the entry fee for sailors who qualify to attend this regatta by competing in the AYC mini regattas, the first of which will be September 17. Up for grabs are 3 spots for Optis, 1 for standard Laser, and 1 Double – Handed.
Finally, the Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta in Miami will be December 26 - 30. Registration opens on September 11 for Optis, and September 12 for Laser. Places fill up fast so go online and register soon if you wish to go.
