YELLOW WARBLER

CANARY

This pretty yellow bird with a yellow-streaked chest,  is a common year-long resident of Antigua and goes by the local name of 'Canary'. This five-inch bird prefers wooded or bushy areas, but not so commonly, it can be found in gardens as well.

It has a great range, all the way from Canada to the Caribbean. These warblers feed on many types of insects that are harmful to shrubs and other vegetation. All other warblers to be seen in Antigua are only migrants or winter residents.
