JOLLY HARBOUR MARINA HOSTS RUSSIAN BUSINESS SAILING WEEK 2013 Sunday 14th April 2013
On Saturday March 16th, 2013 – there were 23 Sunsail 41s and 5 Marine Max Dufours ready and waiting at Jolly Harbour Marina for the crews of the Russian Business Sailing week to arrive.
Upon arrival of the 170 participants the supermarket sold out of chocolate and other essential supplies and the restaurants were suddenly full to the brim!
Sunday started with a series of short races in Five Islands Harbour, returning to the Marina for a party on the green.
Monday morning found the boats setting sail for Barbuda – once there they enjoyed the sea breeze, warm clear waters and miles of white beaches.
Tuesday the fleet raced back from Barbuda. The winner was established as “Croque” skippered by VLADIMAR KUINICHENKA. The St. Peters Friendship trophy, awarded by Jolly Harbour Marina, was presented by Marina Manager Festus Isaac during a party hosted by the Minister of Tourism, the Honourable John Maginley.
The departure from Jolly Harbour Marina included another short race in Five Islands Harbour before all hands were on deck to see who could reach Falmouth Harbour first.
It was a pleasure to once again host this event and we look forward to the opportunity again in 2014.
