“10 days of Paradise!” Reviewed September 3, 2012
“After a first holiday being a disappointing week in Tunisia myself and my partner decided this year (after 2 years with no holiday) that we needed 10 days away in the sunshine for a relaxing break.
I've enjoyed Caribbean holidays before and we decided after some research that Antigua was the place for us; once we found Galley Bay I spent a lot of time on here doing lots of research for our break.
This is going to sound very cheesy but from the moment we landed to the moment we left everything was perfect; we had a transfer arranged from the airport with cold bottled water for us and 30 mins later we arrived at Galley Bay - so lovely to arrive feeling refreshed!
Check in was smooth (helped by a glass of fizz) and our room was just stunning; we were right on the beach and in total paradise! Although this is an all inclusive resort there are no sweaty running buffets or tacky wristbands - Galley Bay is pure luxury!
The food and drink was always superb, the staff was world class and the hotel and grounds immaculate - the hardest decision you will need to make here is whether to lounge on the beach or relax by the pool. Yes this place is quite expensive but it's worth every penny, I was drinking champagne every day; the most relaxed I have ever been.
During our stay we had a day out on the catamaran, we went to the Reggae party at Shirley Heights and we went into St. Johns for a spot of shopping - all fantastic things to do, we booked the Shirley Heights trip and the St John's trip with the hotel.
I honestly cannot recommend Galley Bay enough - definitely go if you're thinking of it. I can see why people return year after year!”
