VOLLEYBALL FRATERNITY MOURNS AS ABVA RETIRES #8 JERSEY Monday 16th September 2013
At least two hundred persons came to celebrate the life of National Volleyball Player and Youth Coach, Shauna Isaac, at the YMCA Volleyball Gym on Saturday night, September 14, 2013.
Volleyball players, officials, family and friends who turned out for candlelit vigil.
The Ceremony took the form of a candlelight vigil, prayers, thanksgiving, speeches by members of the National Women’s Volleyball team, officials, family and friends of Shauna Isaac.
Many dressed in white were in tears as they came to reflect their association with Shauna. A video was also shown.
Meanwhile, according to President of the ABVA, Wilbur Harrigan, the number 8 jNational jersey will be retired and worn no more by any other player.
The 34 year old Shauna Isaac died suddenly on September 9, after feeling unwell and taken to the St. John’s Medical Centre on two occasions. She was seven months pregnant at the time.
A autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.
