TEAM ANTIGUA & BARBUDA TOPS GROUP D OF THE FIVB MEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT NORCECA

Antigua & Barbuda brushed aside Bermuda 25 –11, 25—11, and 25—12, in match number six of the FIVB Men’s World Championship Qualification Tournament NORCECA Group D, in Marigot, French St. Martin on Saturday night, September 1, 2012. In doing so, they remained unbeaten from all four games and have registered an unassailable 17 points to top the group.
The Antigua/Barbuda coaching staff sat back and watched while their troupes exhibited superiority over their rivals in three relatively easy sets.
For Antigua/Barbuda, Captain Xavier Roberts scored 14 points from 11 spikes and 3 blocks.
Antigua/Barbuda Coach, Fitzroy Benjamin enthusiastically comment. “From the moment we saw them play the first game, we knew that they were not at the level to really compete at this level, so we choose the opportunity to give most of our younger players more playing time and we were still able to win comfortably,” he reported.
Earlier, Antigua/Barbuda were made to really work when they persevered in five sets against Anguilla, 25—16, 14—25, 20—25, 25—13, and 15—10.
The Antigua/Barbuda National Men’s Volleyball team comprised of Captain Xavier Roberts #9, Henry Matthew #3, Collin Thomas #4, Kylon Cabral #7, Brian Martin #1, Esron Gittens #8, Olsen Joseph # 11, Rixon Joseph #5, Jamarie James #6 and Yashid Auguiste #2 and Libero.
The Coaching staff included Fitzroy Benjamin (Head Coach), and Dion Francis—Asst. Coach.
