A & B VOLLEYBALL TEAM MET TOUGH COMPETITION Monday 27th August 2012
First timers, Antigua/Barbuda, emerged winless at the conclusion of the NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Championship, played in Managua, Nicaragua, August 21—26, 2012.
Playing in Pool A, which comprised of Antigua/Barbuda, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, the Antiguan young women were destroyed in their first encounter 25—9, 25—9, 25—7, against Cost Rica. Costa Rica had a 4—0 advantage in blocks while Antigua registered 32 errors.
On August 22, host, Nicaragua defeated Antigua/ Barbuda 25—12, 25—13, 25—12. Florelisa Smith was the top scorer for Nicaragua with 12 points, while Natasha Best finished with 5 points for Antigua/Barbuda.
In a battle of the losers of Pools A & B, on August 23, Guatemala took advantage of Antigua/Barbuda’s 30 errors, and were better in the serves 14—1, to register a 25—8, 25—8, 25—13 victory. Ada Villalobos was the best scorer for Guatemala with 12 points, including 2 blocks and 3 aces.
