The Antigua & Barbuda Tennis Association is proud to announce the completion of its participation  in the annual ITF 13 & Under Caribbean Development Championships which took place in Suriname August 28th – September 3rd, 2011.

This tournament represents a significant place in the calendar of regional tournaments as it is the only developmental Tennis tournament for this critical age group in the region.

Jevannie Ambrose placed 8th after losing in the quarterfinals to eventual winner from Aruba and Cordell Williams jr the youngest competitor placing 10th in the boys competition in a field of 27. In the doubles competition Antiguan girl winner and the boys quarterfinals.

Team Antigua & Barbuda performed credibly in placing 3rd in a field of fourteen countries. This was an improvement from last year’s 9th place finish.

The Antigua and Barbuda Tennis Association is pleased with the national teams improved results and look forward to continued improvement in the coming years.

The ABTA would like to once again say a special thank you to the sponsors for this event – especially The National Olympic Committee without whom it would have been extremely difficult to send a team, Cool & Smooth for giving concessionary rates on the team jerseys and Peacock Studios for printing the country name, we look forward to your continued support in 2012.

We would also like to thank Coach Cordell Williams and travelling Coach  David ‘Jerry’ Williams for volunteering their time for this worthwhile effort. There were many volunteered hours spent on and off the court in preparing the team for this important event.
