SINGLE BIBLE
An Antiguan name for this plant is SINGLE BIBLE (‘Sinklebible’) because it has so many uses, the chief of which is for burns and the scalp. It has been used as a laxative in Carter’s Little Liver Pills. Other old time uses: ulcers, swellings, colds, sore throat, asthma, poultices, wounds, worms, stomach pains, diabetes and to increase the appetite.
Special thanks to the late Desmond Nicholson of the Museum of Antigua & Barbuda and Peter Duce for making this section of Antigua Nice Ltd possible!
