The 13 & Under development championships was declared open on Sunday 28th August, 2011; countries represented Aruba, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Bermuda, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Cayman Islands, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Netherland Antilles, Barbados and host country Suriname.
Day 1 of the championships started on a good footing.
In first round of his round robin qualifiers Cordell Williams jr defeated Daniel Reed of Cayman Islands 5-3, 4-1
also successful in her first round D'Jeri Raymond defeated Anneasa Grandison of Guyana 4-0, 4-0
Jevannie Ambrose won over Luis Marcano (AHO) by default after dropping the first set 4-5 (10-12 tie break) when his apponent retired for medical reasons.
Day 2 - Round robin qualifiers;
Cordell William jr suffered a loss to Kyle Frankel (AHO) 0-4, 0-4
D'Jeri Raymond also loss in her second round qualifiers to Symphony Griffith (BAR) 2-4, 1-4
Information from courtside confirms that Raymond was ill throughout the match and had to
be seen by the tournament doctor when the match was over.
Jevannie Ambrose was on a successful path today he defeated Nabeel Mohammed (TRI) 4-2,2-4 (10-3 tie break)
Though there were losses for team Antigua in the round robin qualifiers all three(3) members of the Antigua squad made it to the main draw.
