ANTIGUA HAWSKBILLS GET READY FOR LIMACOL CPL
Thursday 25th July 2013

The Antigua Hawksbills players and coaches have been hard at work in their first camp ahead of the inaugural Limacol Caribbean Premier League T20 Tournament which starts on 30 July in Barbados.

Squad members have been going through a series of drills at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds (SVRCG) and assistant coach, Philip DeFreitas is thrilled to be working with the Antigua Hawksbills.

“It has been fantastic so far. Since I left the game of cricket I have worked as a bowling coach and presently, I am working as a coach at a private school. However, to have this opportunity to get back into the game and work with Sir Viv is really exciting for me. With the amount of experience and knowledge that we have between us, we want to show what we have to offer as coaches.”

DeFreitas says the atmosphere in the camp is very positive.

“We have gelled together and we have spent the last two days telling the guys that they must believe in themselves and once they do that we will be successful,” he explained.

Squad members Anthony Martin, Devon Thomas, Gavin Tonge, Jahmar Hamilton, Kieran Powell, Montcin Hodge, Rahkeem Cornwall, Sheldon Cotterell, Ben Rohrer, Dave Mohammed and Justin Kemp have had two, intensive training sessions at the Sir Vivian Richards Grounds

The team will play two practice matches, the first on Friday, 26 July against the Pigotts Crushers, the reigning Antigua and Barbuda T20 champions, and the second on Monday, 29 Julyagainst an All Star T20 team of the best players on the island. The matches will take place at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds and start at 7pm. Both matches are free and open to the public

Franchise player and Captain Marlon Samuels, Kemar Roach and Johnson Charles are on West Indies duty and will join on 30 July. International franchise player Ricky Ponting arrives on 27 July.

The Antigua Hawksbills’ home matches take place at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds on 13, 15 and 17 August. All matches will start at 8pm.
