ROTARY LAUNCHES SEWING PROGRAMME Monday 20th February 2012

The Rotary Club of Antigua is partnering with the Belleview Breakfast Rotary Club of Washington to help persons develop the skill of sewing as a means of sustaining themselves and their families.
The Belleview Breakfast Rotary Club, in collaboration with the Community Development Division in the Ministry of Social Transformation, has launched a sewing project at the Greenbay Women’s Development Centre, where individuals will learn the basics of sewing.
Classes began today (Monday) with instructor Jan Martinka, wife of the club’s President John Martinka, and will continue on Wednesday, Friday and next week Monday.
The course instructor says each sewing machine comes with a DVD and a book on the basics of sewing. Each participant was also provided with a sewing kit.
According to President of the Greenbay Women’s Development Group Catherine Davis, the classes are not only for residents of the Grays/Green community but anyone who is interested.
President of Rotary Club of Antigua Denise Armstrong says her organization looks forward to continue working with Belleview Breakfast Rotary Club.
President Martinka is hoping that at the end of the classes participants will be able to pass their knowledge on to others.
