NAUTICAL GIFT SHOP
In the heart of Heritage Quay, is Shipwreck. It’s a hard shop to miss, as you are greeted by pirate statues at the entrance, and given a feel for what is sold in this shop. Essentially, Shipwreck is the perfect little souvenir shop, filled with all sorts of trinkets.
You can find lots of Antigua branded items, like fridge magnets, shot glasses, key rings and even small Caribbean Christmas tree decorations. Photo frames, paper weights and little Rasta statues are just a few of the items available at Shipwreck. Unique little candle holders and beautifully made pottery pieces also fill the shelves here. Of course, we can’t forget post cards, detailed maps of Antigua and posters. There are coffee mugs and hanging signs reading funny quotes or tropical images as well.
Shipwreck carries a wide range of beautiful artwork by Antiguan Artist, Gilly Gobinet, who specializes in stunning paintings. There is a wide range of sizes; varying from very large paintings available to small hand painted cards. It is certainly a treat to own a beautiful piece of art created by Gilly, who likes to highlight the beauty of Antigua in her paintings.
Given its nautical background, you can also find many treasures under that theme. There are large and small sculptures of marine life, pirates and historical pieces such as sea voyagers behind the helm or canons. There are sculptures made of wood, metal and other materials. There are beautiful hand crafted ships to scale, equipped with all sails and rigging, ranging in size and detail.
Look up at the ceiling and find hanging ornaments and wind chimes of marine creatures or abstract art. Shipwreck also has jewellery made from beads, shells and carved wood.
