Heavy rains and the
unavailability of both the new Sir Vivian Richards Cricket
Ground and the Stanford Cricket Ground put a slight damper
on last year’s event forcing us to cancel a number of
matches. Nonetheless, all the players and guests had a great
time and are now looking forward to this year’s event. |

2nd Annual Independence Cricket
Fest
@ Seatons |

ABSTA are
proud to announce that plans are well underway for our 3rd
Annual Independence Cricket Fest. The 20/20 Masters Cricket
Tournament will be played October 25th, 26th
& 27th at the new Sir Vivian Richards Cricket
Ground.

The teams
are so excited about the tournament that a few will be
arriving early to play some warm up matches to make sure
that they are fully ready to walk away with the coveted
winner’s trophy and prize money. |

On my way
to the US yesterday (Friday 14 Sept) to firm up arrangements
with the US participating teams, I met the St. Croix team
secretly sneaking through Antigua on their way to Dominica
to get some extra preparation. |
|
| They were
adamant and confident that they will not only be champions,
but that they will also take Antigua’s nightlife by storm.
One player said even if he does not bowl nor bat a ball, as
long as he is on the Wadadli Cat Party Picnic Cruise, his
trip is complete! |
|
Last night
over dinner, Errol ‘Fathead’ Pereira of Caribbean Sports
Club of Florida said that they have sacked Ed Lewis as
captain (who caused them not to win last year) and their
‘new look’ team will not only win the tournament, but they
will also show us how to party as well. It is all heating
up. |
|
|
Apart from
the actual tournament, there will be an opportunity for our
politicians to do battle in the form an 8 over-a-side fun
match. “Tell you what, Me nar miss dat”! Other activities
include a Welcome Party, a Party Picnic Cruise aboard
Wadadli Cat (participating teams only) and a Last Lap
Party. I really, really wish I could play in this
tournament ‘cause the feedback and buzz that is expressed by
the players will no doubt guarantee this event one of great
fun and excitement.
See You
Around! |
