CORALITA,
Family:
Antigonon leptopus
This is a very common twining vine found
growing in waste places. It is almost a weed, but the
pink or white flowers forming garlands are very numerous
and make a conspicuous bed of colour. The leaves can be
rubbed into stings to reduce swelling. A tea from the
leaves can be made for diabetes and from the blossoms to
treat high blood pressure. To this day, bunches of
coralita are thrown on to coffins in a grave
as a noise abater before the soil is filled in. |
